About Matthew Sorensen

Hi, I’m Matthew Sorensen.

For most of my career, I’ve been on the other side of the interview table.

I’ve recruited, interviewed, and hired professionals across healthcare, technology, skilled trades, manufacturing, and executive leadership. Over the years I’ve reviewed thousands of resumes, conducted countless interviews, negotiated offers, and worked directly with hiring managers to understand what actually influences hiring decisions.

That experience led me to create The Job Interview Experience, which later became MoveUp Careers and is now The Hired Podcast.

While the name has evolved, the mission has remained the same: helping people build better careers through practical, honest advice from the people who actually make hiring decisions.

I started the podcast because I saw a problem. There is no shortage of career advice online, but much of it comes from people who have never been responsible for hiring. I wanted to share practical insights from recruiters, hiring managers, career experts, psychologists, and business leaders who understand what it really takes to get hired and grow your career.

Today, The Hired Podcast goes beyond interviews. Every episode is designed to help you navigate your career with confidence, whether you’re searching for your next opportunity, negotiating an offer, earning a promotion, changing industries, or becoming a stronger professional.

Outside the podcast, I’ve built recruiting teams, founded recruiting businesses, and developed career resources used by job seekers across a wide range of industries. My goal has always been to make the hiring process more transparent and give people the tools they need to stand out.
